Every rug gets read before it gets cleaned
A machine-made polyester rug and a hand-knotted wool Persian are different animals, and cleaning them the same way is how rugs get ruined. That’s why every rug job starts with an assessment: fiber, construction, dyes, condition.
Then we test for colorfastness in an out-of-sight corner — always, on every rug — before choosing how aggressive we can safely be. The cleaning itself uses our natural citrus extracts and low moisture, which matters doubly for rugs: wool that stays soaked can brown, shrink or mildew, and heavy chemistry strips the lanolin that gives wool its glow.
Dirt, dust and odors come out. The colors, the texture and the fringe stay exactly as they should be.

Rug cleaning questions, answered straight

Is your process safe for wool and oriental rugs?
Yes — it’s built for them. Wool and hand-knotted rugs are exactly where harsh chemistry and heavy water do the most damage. We use gentle citrus extracts, minimal moisture, and we always test dyes for colorfastness in an inconspicuous corner before cleaning the field of the rug.
Will the colors run or fade?
We test every rug’s dyes before we begin — that’s non-negotiable. If a dye shows any sign of instability, we adjust the approach or tell you plainly that the rug needs specialty handling. No guessing with a rug you love.
Do you take rugs away, or clean them in my home?
Most rugs are cleaned right in your home during the visit, protected by a barrier so the floor underneath stays dry. If a piece genuinely needs handling we can’t do on-site, we’ll say so before anything starts — never a surprise.
What about the fringe?
Fringe is usually cotton — more delicate than the rug itself and quick to yellow with rough treatment. We clean it gently, by hand where needed, and never with the aggressive brushing that frays it.
Can you clean jute, sisal or other plant-fiber rugs?
Sometimes — natural plant fibers are very sensitive to moisture, so it depends on the rug’s condition and construction. We’ll look at it during the walk-through and give you an honest answer about what’s safe, even if that answer is "dry methods only."
